Tristen - My Dream Woman!
Most folks know I don’t give props lightly but when I do find something I like, I rave about it! Such is the case with Tristen (www.tristen.com), a songwriter from Nashville that I caught at NXNE in Toronto while I was hanging at a show for my favorite Rock & Roll couple Lily Frost and Jose Contreras (www.lilyfrost.com and www.hdd.com/bydivineright).
Tristen was opening for Lily Frost that night at The Painted Lady. The room was packed but Jose and I made our way to the front of the stage (both of us double fisting some of Canada’s finest brews and ready to rock).
When we got to the front my jaw dropped! Here was this tiny little brunette in a green dress holding a guitar as big as she was, who just had this vibe… She gave off this aura like a cross between a young Oz-era Judy Garland and Stevie Nicks. The juxtaposing sweet innocence met with dark mystery!? And the songs were impressive. This one stuck out to me during the show, and on both the records I bought from her that night. “Battle of the Gods” is classic songwriting! Check this girl out, she’s on the rise. And while you’re at it, check out Lily and Jose’s new records. You won’t be disappointed!
